5 questionsWe have our headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, as well as branches and subsidiaries in France, Luxembourg and Portugal. Furthermore, our team is distributed across the whole of Europe and our activities often take us around the entire globe.
We work in both the public and private sectors and with clients within many industries: Healthcare, Legal, Banking, Insurance, Energy, etc.
Within Thaleria’s clients, the European Institutions are the ones we have the strongest relationship with. They are currently our main area of focus and where we are consistently bidding on new contracts and expanding the most.
As stated before, some of the main profiles we hire the most are Java Developers, Business Analysts, Testers and Data Scientists. But we look for a wide array of other profiles, such as Support Managers, Product Owners or Cybersecurity Experts. Working with Thaleria
6 questionsMost of the time, all that is required is a good level of English (B2 minimum). This is the case for the vast majority of the positions within the European Institutions, as English has been established as the main working language. French, along with Dutch, is also very often required for positions within the private sector in Belgium.
Citizenship from a country within the European Union is not always mandatory, but it is certainly a big advantage to avoid a restricted pool of opportunities and lengthy administrative procedures. Certain clients will require that candidates are EU citizens, as the systems and/or projects they will be working on contain sensitive data that will require a security clearance. Furthermore, especially if relocation is needed on your part, work permits will be required which is an additional process that can delay the beginning of a mission by several months.
Usually we will know about the need for a security clearance from the beginning. Moreover, certain clients we work with always require a security clearance due to the nature of their activities, as it is the case with eu-LISA. If you are applying for such a position, or are working for us and the client requires that you obtain a security clearance, don’t worry: Thaleria offers full support and will guide you through the entire process, as we have a strong experience in getting citizens from many EU countries security-cleared.
For the most part, university degrees are not a hard requirement. However, please note that not only are they mandatory for a few of our contracts, even when they aren’t strictly required they can and are still considered a significant advantage for certain positions in the eyes of our clients.
We have openings for all seniority levels. That being said, if you have just finished your studies and do not yet have any professional experience or just for a few months, the pool of opportunities we will have for you will be significantly reduced.
Before each interview, our Account Managers will get in touch with you to thoroughly brief you on multiple topics, such as the type of interview to expect, more information about the client, the team or the project, tips on how to answer questions, as well as, whenever possible, send you a list of the type of technical questions you may be asked in order to help you prepare the best you can.
Recruitment Process & Onboarding
4 questionsOur usual application process can take anywhere from 1 to 4 weeks. It goes from the official submission of your application all the way to potential interviews and acceptance by the client. During this time our team constantly monitors the process to provide you with updates.
Most application processes consist of one 1h interview via videoconference where the client will tell you about the opening and the project, and ask you questions about your professional experience and technical knowledge relevant to the position. It is also possible for clients to sometimes request that the interview be held onsite at their premises. In the event of such a request, we will help and guide you in all aspects of your trip.
Most of the time, your technical skills and knowledge will only be tested orally at interview stage. It is however possible in certain cases that a client asks for a written technical test to be performed, either in parallel to an interview or as a means to decide if they would like to proceed to the interview stage.
After an official acceptance, you will be contacted by both our Account Managers and our HR department. The Account Managers will confirm the final details of the mission with you, as well as discuss your potential start date. The HR department will draft the contract and send it to you for review, as well as schedule a call to answer any questions you may have.
After contract signature, the team will prepare your onboarding and the start of your mission. If you need to relocate, we will also help and guide you during the relocation process: how to search and find an apartment, which administrative procedures you need to start, how to open a bank account, how to register with healthcare providers and social security etc.
HR & Professional Development
1 questionThaleria has developed a Training Program for all its consultants, tailored to their profile and taking into account both the way they would like to evolve in their careers as well as the specific needs of the client. Training days can vary depending on the client and contract, but the yearly average is 5 days.
Contractual Matters
5 questionsThe contracts will always be with us. And then, depending on the position for which you will have been hired, you will work on projects for our clients or internal Thaleria projects.
You can be required to travel abroad during your mission, depending on the position and your specific profile. This will not come as a surprise, as clients will have informed us of any potential travel requirements beforehand, and the costs will have already been provisioned for.
Most of the time, overtime is contractually provided for - it is not allowed unless a specific agreement is signed and, if it is, it usually covers Saturdays & nights at 150% and bank holidays and Sundays at 200%. Please not that these figures are an average and can vary depending on the specific positions and/or contract.
Usually, yes. If you are working as a freelancer, you simply need to check with the client that there are no big deadlines which would require your attention, but as long as the client is ok with time off, so are we. If you’re working as an employee, you will need to check with the client if you can leave, but also check how many days of holidays you have left for the current year. In the event of you not having enough paid leave, it should still be possible to mix your paid days with some unpaid leave.
As a freelancer, you have total flexibility. As an employee, we would need to refer to the local legislation: in Luxembourg and Belgium, there are specific days you are entitled to for emergencies (e.g. 2 days for first-degree relatives). In any case, you can always use your paid or unpaid leave for this purpose if necessary.
